Grammatically Me

Your vs. you’re

Like most languages, American English is loaded with enough pitfalls to trap even the most savvy

One of my pet peeves is when people mix up the words your and you’re.

The word your simply defines ownership, as in the phrase is that your book?

You’re, on the other hand, is a contraction for the words you are.

A simple way to get this right is to sound it out in your head. If you want to say you are, then use you’re. Otherwise, use the word your.
